Javed Akhtar, Zehra Nigah, Tehzeeb Hafi & More | Live at the Dubai Grand Mushaira

Javed Akhtar, Zehra Nigah and Tehzeeb Hafi, & many more all on one stage in Dubai.

This is the Grand Mushaira from Jashn-e-Rekhta Dubai, presided over by the legendary Zehra Nigah and hosted by Ambreen Haseeb Amber. The lineup is stacked, and each poet brings a different voice to the mic.

Manish Shukla opens with verses on the grace of Urdu and the ironies of life. Asim Wasti reflects on how people and relationships change. Tehzeeb Hafi, a favourite among the youth, reads his known verses on love, poverty and the longing for home. Javed Akhtar turns to time and the silences that sit inside relationships. Shakeel Azmi shares his nazm Parde Ke Peeche Ka Andhera, for the unsung workers of the film industry. Anwar Shaoor reads on love, aging and the irony of desire, and Khalid Irfan brings sharp, lighthearted satire on India and Pakistan. Farhat Ehsas explores the scars love leaves behind, and Abbas Tabish moves the room with poetry on mothers, loneliness and sacrifice. Zehra Nigah closes with her iconic Jungle Ka Kanoon, a social commentary wrapped in a fable, with a tribute to the late Rahat Indori along the way.
