"Charagh Ban Ke Mein Jal Raha Hoon" | Azm Shakri's Shayari at Shaam-e-Rekhta
.
Azm Shakiri’s Urdu shayari moves from the first night of love to old wounds, unanswered longing, and memories carried away by the wind. Recorded live at Shaam-e-Rekhta in Hyderabad, this performance brings together spoken verse and ghazals recited in tarannum.
Listen to “Ajeeb Haalat Hai Jismo Jaan Ki” and verses about the words we hold back, the relationships we preserve, and the loneliness of wanting to be remembered. Shakiri also acknowledges Ahmad Faraz while introducing a misra he adapted into his own poetic framework.
At the centre of the performance is “Subah Tak Dard Ki Shaakh Par,” delivered in his melodic style. The evening closes with “Hawa Uda Ke Le Gayi,” a ghazal filled with images of homes, handwritten letters, and things beyond our control.
