wahshat mein jis qadar hua nuqsan yaad hai
vahshat meñ jis qadar huā nuqsān yaad hai
zanjīr hifz hai mujhe zindān yaad hai
kis imtihāñ ke vāste bhejā gayā tujhe
kuchh baat tujh ko ai dil-e-nādān yaad hai
haiñ yaad mujh ko dasht-e-junūñ kī riyāzateñ
kyā zā.iqa thā hijr ke daurān yaad hai
duniyā ke ranj-o-ġham se vo kaise niDhāl hoñ
jin tāliboñ ko faqr kī gardān yaad hai
bhūlā nahīñ huuñ manzar-e-roz-e-alast maiñ
'jāmī' mujhe vo naqsha-o-maidān yaad hai

kuchh baat tujh ko ai dil-e-nadan yaad hai
hain yaad mujh ko dasht-e-junun ki riyazaten
kya zaiqa tha hijr ke dauran yaad hai
duniya ke ranj-o-gham se wo kaise niDhaal hon
jin talibon ko faqr ki gardan yaad hai
bhula nahin hun manzar-e-roz-e-alast main
'jami' mujhe wo naqsha-o-maidan yaad hai
