kabhī mai-kada kabhī but-kada kabhī ka.aba to kabhī ḳhānqāh
ye tirī talab kā junūn thā mujhe kab kisī se lagāv thā
At times taverns, temples times, mosques and times, monasteries
`twas frenzy of my search for you, else when was I attached to these.
kabhi mai-kada kabhi but-kada kabhi kaba to kabhi KHanqah
ye teri talab ka junun tha mujhe kab kisi se lagaw tha

muntazir ham the muntazir ham haiñ
sal, par sal, aur phir is sal
muntazir hum the muntazir hum hain
yaad aatī hai achchhī sī koī baat sar-e-shām
phir sub.h talak sochte rahte haiñ vo kyā thī
yaad aati hai achchhi si koi baat sar-e-sham
phir subh talak sochte rahte hain wo kya thi
koī aise vaqt meñ ham se bichhḌā hai
shaam Dhale jab panchhī ghar lauT aate haiñ
koi aise waqt mein hum se bichhDa hai
sham Dhale jab panchhi ghar lauT aate hain
TaTolo parakh lo chalo aazmā lo
ḳhudā kī qasam bā-ḳhudā aadmī huuñ
TaTolo parakh lo chalo aazma lo
KHuda ki qasam ba-KHuda aadmi hun
