ek wazifa hai kisi dard ka dohraya hua

raste mein ajab aasar mile

miTTi ki surahi hai

lahu mein rang-e-suKHan us ka bhar ke dekhte hain

lahu ragon mein sambhaala nahin gaya mujhse

sar ko aawaz se wahshat hi sahi

sabz hikayat surKH kahani

kanwal jo wo kanar-e-abju na ho

siskiyon hichkiyon aahon ki farawani mein

kahaniyon ne zara khinch kar badan apne

dil yar ka taKHt hua hi nahin

ye tere husn ka aaweza jo mahtab nahin

is jada-e-ushshaq ki taqdir ajab hai

gale se der talak lag ke roen abr-o-sahab

kis hatheli pe pa-posh sinche gae kis kahani ko be-nam rakha gaya
