    māh-o-anjum ko chūmā kyā

    aur kal shaam

    ba.ad-az-safar

    bā-hazārāñ zafar

    apne bairūn dastyābī ke

    jashn-e-tarab meñ

    maiñ jab shādmāñ thā

    yakāyak nigah

    andarūñ taraf muḌ ga.ī

    ik shikast-e-ajab zaat se juḌ ga.ī

    mujhe apne bairun ki justuju thi

    ki wo aankh se apni dekha tha main ne

    jazaer

    wo sab reKHta na-rasida jazaer

    KHalaon mein bikhre gire

    zist-asar ke shaebe jin mein the

    ab meri justuju ya hawas ka

    hadaf ban gae the

    main un ki tamanna liye

    dilkash o mast rahon mein

    ek umr ghuma kiya

    mah-o-anjum ko chuma kya

    aur kal sham

    baad-az-safar

    ba-hazaran zafar

    apne bairun ki dastyabi ke

    jashn-e-tarab mein

    main jab shadman tha

    yakayak nigah

    andarun ki taraf muD gai

    ek shikast-e-ajab zat se juD gai
