kabhi muD ke phir isi rah par na to aae tum na to aae hum

Indira Varma

kabhi muD ke phir isi rah par na to aae tum na to aae hum

Indira Varma

kabhī muḌ ke phir isī raah par na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

kabhī fāsloñ ko sameT kar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

Turning back on that very road

You did not come, nor did I

Gathering together distances

You did not come, nor did I

jo tumheñ hai apnī anā pasand to mujh bhī shart paas hai

ye zidoñ ke silsile toḌ kar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

If your ego is dear to you

I,too,must heed my oath

Breaking this chain of stubbornness

You did not,nor did I

unhīñ chāhatoñ meñ bañdhe hue abhī tum bhī ho abhī ham bhī haiñ

hai kashish diloñ meñ bahut magar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

Bound in the same bonds of love

You remain, as I do

Despite the pull of our hearts

You did not come, nor did I

shab-e-vasl bhī shab-e-hijr hai shab-e-hijr ab to hai mustaqil

yahī sochne meñ huī sahar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

The Night of Meeting is the Night of Separation

The Night of Separation is a continuum

With these thoughts, morning comes

You did not come, nor did I

vo jharoke pardoñ meñ band haiñ vo tamām galiyāñ udaas haiñ

kabhī ḳhvāb meñ sar-e-rahguzar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

Those windows are shut behind curtains

All those alleys are sad

Even on the pathway of dreams

You did not come, nor did I

usī shahr usī raah par the hamāre ghar bhī qarīb-tar

yūñhī ghūmte rahe 'umr bhar na to aa.e tum na to aa.e ham

On that same road,in the same city

Our homes once stood close beside

Wandering,we spent our lives

You did not come, nor did I

kabhī ittifāq se mil ga.e kisī shahr ke kisī moḌ par

to ye kah uThegī nazar nazar kyuuñ na aa.e tum kyuuñ na aa.e ham

Someday,perchance,if we meet

On a turning in some city

Our glances shall speak up

Why didn't you come,why didn't I

kabhi muD ke phir isi rah par na to aae tum na to aae hum

kabhi faslon ko sameT kar na to aae tum na to aae hum

Turning back on that very road

You did not come, nor did I

Gathering together distances

You did not come, nor did I

jo tumhein hai apni ana pasand to mujh bhi shart ka pas hai

ye zidon ke silsile toD kar na to aae tum na to aae hum

If your ego is dear to you

Breaking this chain of stubbornness

kabhi KHwab mein sar-e-rahguzar na to aae tum na to aae hum
