ज़रा सा क़तरा कहीं आज अगर उभरता है
समुंदरों ही के लहजे में बात करता है
now ever if a trifling droplet happens to appear
like the mighty oceans its head it seeks to rear
खुली छतों के दिए कब के बुझ गए होते
कोई तो है जो हवाओं के पर कतरता है
the lamps on open terraces would long have been erased
the might of winds someone is who manages to shear
शराफ़तों की यहाँ कोई अहमियत ही नहीं
किसी का कुछ न बिगाड़ो तो कौन डरता है
decency has little value it does not get respect
Until harm is caused to them people do not fear
ये देखना है कि सहरा भी है समुंदर भी
वो मेरी तिश्ना-लबी किस के नाम करता है

तुम आ गए हो तो कुछ चाँदनी सी बातें हों
ज़मीं पे चाँद कहाँ रोज़ रोज़ उतरता है
how often does the moon condescend to come to earth
let us talk of love and joy now that you are here
ज़मीं की कैसी वकालत हो फिर नहीं चलती
जब आसमाँ से कोई फ़ैसला उतरता है
however you defend the earth it is of no avail
when a judgement is imposed from the heavens clear
