ye sikhāyā hai dostī ne hameñ
dost ban kar kabhī vafā na karo
friendship has taught this to me
in friendship don’t bear loyalty
ishq hai ishq ye mazāq nahīñ
chand lamhoñ meñ faisla na karo
love is love, no joke at all
Rashly, do not make a call

be-dilī se to ibtidā na karo
worship, love whatever be
begin it not half-heartedly
