un ko āñdhī meñ hī bikharnā thā
baal o par āshiyāñ ke the hī nahīñ
ab hamārā makān kis kā hai
ham to apne makāñ ke the hī nahīñ
ho tirī ḳhāk-e-āstāñ pe salām
ham tire āstāñ ke the hī nahīñ
ham ne ranjish meñ ye nahīñ sochā
kuchh suḳhan to zabāñ ke the hī nahīñ
dil ne Daalā thā darmiyāñ jin ko
log vo darmiyāñ ke the hī nahīñ
us galī ne ye sun ke sabr kiyā
jaane vaale yahāñ ke the hī nahīñ
