tab mujhe māhtāb lagte ho
tum ko paḌhnā pasand hai mujh ko
shā'irī kī kitāb lagte ho
baḌe mahdūd dā.ere mere
aur tum be-hisāb lagte ho
Thiik lagte ho dostoñ ko 'figār'
aur jahāñ ko ḳharāb lagte ho
