condition; it represents an important facet of human personality. It also impacts life in various ways and defines a person’s attitude towards life itself. Poets have explored this mental state in different ways, especially in relation to the lovers who suffer immeasurably once they get suspicious. ham jaur-parastoñ pe gumāñ tark-e-vafā kā
ye vahm kahīñ tum ko gunahgār na kar de
hum jaur-paraston pe guman tark-e-wafa ka
ye wahm kahin tum ko gunahgar na kar de
log be-mehr na hote hoñge
vahm sā dil ko huā thā shāyad
log be-mehr na hote honge
wahm sa dil ko hua tha shayad
kab tak najāt pā.eñge vahm o yaqīñ se ham
uljhe hue haiñ aaj bhī duniyā o diiñ se ham
kab tak najat paenge wahm o yaqin se hum
uljhe hue hain aaj bhi duniya o din se hum
dard ho to davā bhī mumkin hai
vahm kī kyā davā kare koī
dard ho to dawa bhi mumkin hai
wahm ki kya dawa kare koi
kyā jaane use vahm hai kyā merī taraf se
jo ḳhvāb meñ bhī raat ko tanhā nahīñ aatā

kya jaane use wahm hai kya meri taraf se
jo KHwab mein bhi raat ko tanha nahin aata
